1960's New Zealand Oil Paintings. Sixteen works.

These paintings on board and canvas were painted at the Art Department of Auckland University (Elam) in 1967-69.

I wanted to paint with the values of the Realists of the 1850s, and work with honesty to what I saw in front of me, the people around me and the town of Auckland, painting from life.

I can see the influences of Raphael and Courbet in these paintings as I was studying their work and ideas at the time.
